Details on Events:
Graduation: The Graduation Ceremony starts at 7:00 pm (not 7:30 pm as previously announced). The school requests that students arrive about 1.5 hours in advance of the ceremony. Please plan to arrive around 5:30 pm. Students must be at the Patriot Center early to line up and get ready for the ceremony. Doors to the Patriot Center will open to families at 6:00 pm. Seating is first come first served, but you will be able to see from any seat. The ceremony will start promptly at 7:00 pm and usually lasts about 2 hours.
No Graduation Tickets: Graduates and their families are invited to attend graduation. There are no tickets necessary.
Graduation Party:The All Night Grad Party starts immediately after graduation, about 9:30 pm at TJ. Most students come directly to the party following graduation; a few stop home to change clothes. Students must arrive at the party by 11:00 pm. The party is over about 5:30 to 6 am. Tickets must be purchased for the event. TJ’s ANGP usually has an attendance of 95% - we’d like 100% this year!
Rehearsal/Cap & Gown: Caps and gowns will be handed out to students at the rehearsal held at TJ on Thursday morning, June 17th. If your student has not paid his/her financial obligations, including missing books, calculators, sports equipment AND $30 in Senior dues, he/she will not receive his cap and gown.
Graduation Announcements: Orders will be delivered on April 28th in the TJ Cafeteria at lunch. If you have questions or would like to purchase additional graduation announcements or other items, contact Balfour directly at 703-941-1436 or
Graduation Videographer & Photographer: The school has contracted with a photographer and videographer for the graduation ceremony. DVDs of the ceremony can be ordered using this form. The photographer will take pictures of each student as he/she receives a diploma. Proofs will be mailed to you, along with an order form.
Prom: Prom will be held on Friday, June 11 at Westwood Country Club in Vienna. Tickets are free to seniors (covered by the money raised by the Class of 2010 over the past four years). Guests of seniors (underclassman and non-TJ guests) must pay $50 for a ticket and complete a form (available in the front office). Deadline: June 1. After June 1, tickets for guests are $65..
Senior dues: Senior dues are $30, check should be made payable to TJHSST. Please put "Class of 2010 senior dues" in the memo line. Send the check in the school to the attention of Ms. Amanda Hurowitz, Class of 2010 faculty sponsor. Dues cover the cost of cap and gown and other graduation-related items.
Baccalaureate. What is Baccalaureate? The student Baccalaureate chairs describe it as follows: "As a part of the ceremony, students and faculty share their experience through their academic years and how their religion has influenced them. There will be student speakers from a variety of religions. Our event sponsor and keynote speaker will be AP US History teacher Mr. Thomas Sleete. Baccalaureate is also a time when students present their musical talents. Baccalaureate provides an opportunity for students to be recognized individually in a more relaxed, thoughtful environment prior to the festivities of the school-wide graduation. The ceremony, although religious, is non-denominational and every effort will be made to ensure that everyone feels represented and welcome should they choose to attend. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, email . Please note that no school funds are spent on the ceremony.
