I2 (A) Introduction to the TI-83 and Vernier Probeware: This session will focus on data collection/analyses tools in both the biology and chemistry classroom. This hands-on program will demonstrate the powerful graphing capabilities of the TI-83, followed by laboratory investigations which will utilize Vernier Probeware as a data collection tool. I2 (B) Creating HyperStudio Templates: Participants will learn basic HyperStudio skills while creating a template. Come with an idea and leave with a template that can be used in your classroom. (9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.)
I2 (C) Bridging the Gap: Four activities will be demonstrated to show how technology and other disciplines are used to teach mathematics. (9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.)

I2 (E) French and photo: Brassai as a muse: a student interdisciplinary project: Following their research, photo students shot their own photographs of their community & Washington D.C.,, and French students wrote poems and short passages telling the story of each picture. All examples will focus on implementation within a single school. Topics will include: networking, student and staff accounts, matching the technology to the curriculum, staff development, and more! A4 (B) Research Opportunities: A hands-on workshop exploring elementary, middle and high school electronic resources for students, including how and when these resources are introduced. (10:35 a.m.-noon)

I4 (B) A Tornado in My Classroom: Helping Teachers Manage Their Computers: This session is designed to keep classroom activities going even if the computer balks. No waiting for the techie down the hall, participants will learn how to troubleshoot problems and maintain their computer to prevent problems in the future. T4 (A) Windows 2000: Overview: This session is designed to give a birds-eye technical view of the Windows 2000 product line and features. Some of the topics that will be covered: products, infrastructure, file and print services, web and applications services and Intellimirror. (9:00-10:30 a.m.)
T4 (B) Intranet Services: What are the key elements and considerations in putting together an Intranet? This session will look at Border Manager and the robustness of an integrated network, and address issues such as login security, design, database integration etc. (9:00-10:30 a.m.)

A5 (A) Technology Competencies/Staff and Student: Review school-based technology competencies for both staff and students using both the Fairfax County Public Schools model and the new competencies developed by NESA. (1-2:30 p.m.)
A5 (B) Firewalls and Filtering: Protecting yourself from outside threats and limiting access to internet resources for inside users has become a major issues for educational institutions across the country. This session will look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of various strategies used to protect your data, as well as users surfing the net. (2:35-4:00 p.m.)

I5 (A) Get Inspired With Inspiration 6.0: In this hands-on session, learn how to use the many new features of Inspiration 6.0. Participants will learn to create webs, concept maps, diagrams, and outlines. Inspiration is available for both Mac and Windows and is appropriate for all grade levels (including adults). T5 (A) INTELLIMIRROR & other Windows 2000 Client Features: This session is designed to discuss and provide live technical demonstrations on how Windows 95/Windows 2000 Professional clients operate in a 2000 environment. Some of the features that will be discussed /demonstrated are: 2000 Professional features, 2000 Professional and Active Directory, Windows 95 and Active Directory. (1-2:30 p.m.)
T5 (B) Security on the Internet: While very few networks are attacked by skilled computer crackers looking for specific information or access, *most* networks are attacked *daily* by computer crackers of limited skill. We will discuss the security risks out there, focusing on the most common and the most damaging, and go into what you can do to protect your network. (1-2:30 p.m.)
T5 (C) ACTIVE DIRECTORY & other Windows 2000 Server Features: This session is designed to discuss and provide live technical demonstrations on Active Directory and other key Windows 2000 server features.
