What are the times of TJ Summer School?
All classes will operate from 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Will lunch or breakfast be provided?
No. Students must bring their own meals.
How much will TJ Tech Institute cost?
All classes will cost $200 (one exception is Journalism, which is a four-day class: $160).
How do I obtain an application for TJ Summer School?
Registration will ONLY be available through the >FCPS Department of Adult and Community Education ACE web site.
How do I register for TJ Summer School? Are there any deadlines?
For 2008: Registration will ONLY be available through the FCPS Department of Adult and Community Education (ACE) web site. Registrations can be submitted online, in the mail or faxed.
Confirmation of registration will be provided through the FCPS Department of Adult and Community Education (ACE) web site. Please do not contact TJHSST regarding registration, as it may only delay the process.
When will students be notified of the status of their TJ Summer School registration?
Notification will be available through the ACE web site. You will be encouraged to consider alternate course choices when you register - please keep in mind that an alternate course or topic may become necessary to accommodate student enrollment, available resources, and teacher availability.
Will I need to purchase books or materials for summer school?
No additional costs. Students will need academic supplies such as notebooks, paper, pens and calculators.
What are the criteria to qualify for TJ summer school?
- Any student who will be completing grade 7 or grade 8 in Spring 2008
- Completed registration form through the ACE registration site.
- Payment with application.
Unfortunately, TJ Tech Institute has limited resources and cannot always meet the high demand for limited class space. No student is required to attend TJ Summer School and no student is guaranteed a place in any TJ Tech Institute program. Final course registration is based on student enrollment, available resources and teacher availability.
What is the attendance policy for TJ Summer School?
Since these are non-credit course, daily attendance is not required but is essential for a successful learning experience. Students who are not here on the first day of classes will be removed from course rosters.
What if I need a refund?
Please refer to page 21 of the Encore Booklet for information and necessary forms. Please do not contact TJHSST for refunds as this may only delay the process.
Where is my classroom and who will my teacher be?
On the first day of each week and for all courses students will all meet in the school cafeteria to determine their classroom assignments, meet their teachers and school administration, and also to learn about the student expectations while at the TJ Tech Institute.
What courses will be offered at TJ Summer Tech Institute? What dates will these courses be offered?
The course descriptions that are tentatively planned for Summer 2008 are listed under the TJ Summer Tech Institute Course Descriptions. Please keep track of the Course Number, Title, and Dates being offered to be certain of your choice when registering via the ACE registration system. All classes are five days, except Journalism which is four days.
